Customers have lined up to score a free scoop of Ben & Jerry's since 1979, when the very first Free Cone Day was celebrated at a renovated gas station in Vermont. The day serves as a "thank you" from the ice cream company for the years of visits and support from customers.

Since the first celebration, Free Cone Day has spread to Ben & Jerry's shops worldwide.
Customers can choose from a variety of different classic flavors including Chunky Monkey, Cherry Garcia, Cookie Dough and Strawberry Cheesecake. For those who have trouble choosing, Ben & Jerry's put together a quiz to help make the decision a little easier.
