📰 Here are the top stories today in Los Angeles:

  1. A drive-by shooter targeted a 55-year-old man in the 2300 block of San Fernando Road on Monday. The shooting took place a little after 9 p.m. The victim was struck by at least one bullet, but is alive. (The Eastsider LA)
  2. Three men tried to rob the 7-Eleven near the corner of Chatsworth Avenue and Sepulveda Boulevard on Tuesday. While they timed their caper for 4 a.m., they couldn’t hide in the surrounding neighborhood for long. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) caught them. (KTLA)
  3. If you don’t have a library card, you might want to reconsider. Beginning today, Wednesday, the Los Angeles Public Library will give out limited-edition library cards featuring P-22. You can get this card at any library branch. Administrators want to do their part to “feature the importance of natural spaces and biodiversity of wildlife in our shared habitat.” (Woodland Hills Branch Library)
  4. Jamison Services, a company known for its Koreatown projects, such as the Pierce National Life Building conversion into apartments on Wilshire, intends to buy the lot at 544 South Mariposa Avenue. As of Tuesday, it’s only a parking lot; in time, it could become a seven-story apartment building with 30 units. (The Real Deal/paywall)
  5. Pentatonix received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Tuesday. It’s the first time an a cappella group was granted this honor. If you want to take a look, the star is between those of Cole Porter and Etta James. Hard to believe that this successful group began as high school students in 2010 wanting to meet the cast of “Glee.” (Fox)
