Glendale is Home to UMI by Eden, One of the Best Sushi Bars in LA

Glendale’s American fusion restaurant Eden on Brand has launched UMI by Eden, a new sushi spot located on their ground floor.

The three-story restaurant offers rolls, sashimi, sushi and killer cocktails. Both drinks and dishes are delicious and beautifully served and plated.

UMI translates to the “sea” in Japanese and dishes feature fresh seafood with unexpected twists. Appetizers include the truffle snow edamame with garlic and Thai chili; a beautiful savory Wagyu tartare with truffle vinaigrette and truffle toast; popcorn shrimp with spicy mayonnaise; Uni toast and spicy tuna crispy rice. Their special dishes are almost too beautiful to eat and include halibut with leche de tigre, pickled Fresno chili and cilantro oil; kanpachi with yuzu ponzu and Serrano pepper; tuna with cilantro jalapeno ponzu; salmon with cilantro jalapeno cream and nori powder; yellowtail with habanero citrus vinaigrette, nasturtium flower and hanaho and albacore with a yuzo ponsu, truffle oil and chili crisp.

Sushi and sashimi includes unique pairing of ingredients including salmon with crunchy garlic and Eden soy, halibut with pickled Thai chili and scallion and albacore with red kosho and truffle oil. They offer both hand/cut rolls and premium rolls, all delicious. Our faves were the salmon tempura with avocado, spicy tuna, cilantro jalapeno ponzu, lime and scallion and the Spanish bluefin tuna with avocado, lemon and puffed amaranth.

They also offer a variety of mocktails and cocktails which are equally beautiful and delicious.

The atmosphere is dark and intimate with big comfy black booths, black marbled tables with black and gold accented chairs, beautiful modern big light fixtures and a sleek sushi bar. If you are heading to the Alex Theater for an event, UMI by Eden is the place for sushi but it’s also a destination for a special romantic date. The sushi and drinks are exceptional and worth a trip to Glendale to enjoy new Japanese cuisine with a twist.
