GPS-Tracked Package Leads To Porch Pirate’s Fatal Crash: Police
The pursuit of a stolen package came to a deadly conclusion early Wednesday morning, according to police.
ARCADIA, CA — The pursuit of a suspected package thief came to a deadly conclusion after police in Arcadia discovered the car carrying the stolen parcel was involved in a fatal crash early Wednesday morning, according to police.
Officers responded to the report of package stolen from a residence on the 200 block of East Sycamore Avenue at around 4:30 a.m. Because the package was equipped with a GPS device, officers were ale to follow its path into neighboring Monrovia, according to the Arcadia Police Department.
There, they came across a single-vehicle crash near Maple and Magnolia avenues. The GPS-tracked package, as well as additional mail that appeared to be stolen, was located inside the crashed vehicle, according to police.

The two occupants of the vehicle were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the collision. The driver was pronounced dead at the hospital. The passenger remained hospitalized for treatment of moderate injuries Wednesday, according to police.
The case remains under investigation.
