Grossman Prosecutors Removed From Case, DA Cites Conflict Of Interest: Report

The move comes as the supervising prosecutor in the case, who is facing 11 felonies, is being represented by the same attorney as Grossman.

VAN NUYS, CA — The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has removed the prosecutors who convicted Rebecca Grossman of murder in the crash that killed two young boys in Westlake Village due to a conflict of interest, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.

The DA's office replaced Jamie Castro, Ryan Gould and their supervisor, Garrett Dameron, in the case. The prosecutors reported during trial to Assistant DA Diana Teran, who was recently charged with 11 felonies in connection to the illegal use of confidential sheriff's records, according to the Times.

Teran is represented by James Spertus, the attorney who is also representing Grossman as she seeks a new trial following her conviction earlier this year.

DA leadership told Dameron the prosecutors were removed so anyone who worked with Teran would be separated from the case moving forward.

Grossman was convicted in February of two counts each of second-degree murder and vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence and one count of hit-and-run resulting in death involving the Sept. 29, 2020, crash that left 11-year-old Mark Iskander and his 8-year-old brother, Jacob, dead.
