Head to Larchmont for a Beautiful BITE

BITE’s new Lip Lab, located in Larchmont, allows guests to work with an expert color artist to create unique signature shades of lipstick.

I recently heard about BITE’s new Lip Lab and had to try it out. A fan of the Canadian based cosmetics company, I have used their lipsticks, scrubs and balms for years.

I met with Marie Chan Konya, a professional makeup artist from Toronto, and we began by determining if I wanted a coral, red, pink or plum shade. We started off with a base color of musk and added in a bit of rhubarb. Marie added in the color gradually until we had the perfect shade of plum.

Next, we chose the finish. Options included matte, satin and crème. I also got to choose a flavor, which ended up being vanilla. With the custom Bespoke Service, each guest receives two lipsticks, so I had Marie pick out my second shade. She opted for bright fuchsia which was a mix of quince, violet and lilac. We chose a satin finish with a mint flavor. We then named my lipsticks, Shaena and Diva, and using an iPad app and a special machine they were engraved on a lipstick case.

Marie then poured each color into a mixing machine. After each custom color was mixed, they were poured into a steel mold. The mold was then frozen, left to rest for 15 minutes, and once set the mold was put into my personalized holder and I had two one of a kind signature shade lipsticks.

In total, there are 200 pigments to choose from at the Lip Lab by BITE. The Bespoke Service costs $150 and includes two custom lip shades and a Lip Labe BITE kit including a mini liner and lip primer as well as a whipped cherry lip scrub.

Lip Lab also carries all of the BITE lipsticks, masks, balms and scrubs. All BITE products are made without parabens, sulfates or phthalates. I also picked up a few of BITE’s prismatic pearl lip glosses and a few sweet treats party prep kits for holiday gifts.
