Hidden Camera In Bathroom At SoCal Clinic; Patients Sue, Doctor Arrested: Reports

"It was pointed directly at the toilet, so they were definitely aiming to record people using the bathroom," an employee told KTLA.

VALENCIA, CA — A doctor was arrested and 17 patients, including four minors, are pursuing a lawsuit after a camera was found hidden in a clinic bathroom, according to reports.

An employee of The Joint Chiropractic in Valencia discovered the camera in May, taped in a cabinet across from a toilet, according to KTLA, which reported it was hooked up to a power bank and likely feeding live video.

Dr. Nicholas Vanderhyde was arrested in June on suspicion of possessing child pornography, KTLA reported, noting former patients alleged he always insisted they go to the bathroom before treatment.

“It was pointed directly at the toilet, so they were definitely aiming to record people using the bathroom, people’s private parts,” the employee who found the camera anonymously told KTLA of whoever set it up.

The camera had been in place three days, according to KABC. There are dozens of victims, KTLA reported.

Vanderhyde no longer works at the clinic but charges have yet to be filed by the district attorney’s office, according to KTLA, which reported he was released on bail.

He is accused in the lawsuit of sexual misconduct with patients, including touching their genitals, KABC reported.

"At The Joint Chiropractic, the safety of our patients and staff, and the integrity of the service we provide, are always our highest priorities,” the clinic told KABC in a statement. “We are not at liberty to discuss ongoing legal matters."
