Hunt On For Killer Who Stabbed Elderly Men In LA County Home Break-Ins

Police are looking for a man considered armed and dangerous following two stabbings in L.A. County. He was last seen in the Inland Empire.

LOS ANGELES COUNTY -- Police are looking for a man considered armed and dangerous following two stabbings at homes in an unincorporated LA County community. Authorities said the suspect attacked two men, fatally stabbing one of them, and then left in the victim's vehicle, which was recovered in Chino.

The man is sought on suspicion of murder committed in an unincorporated Whittier community on Monday in the 15300 block of Goodhue Street where an 84-year-old man was found dead this week. Authorities Thursday identified the slain man as Rolland Alexander II.

“The suspect entered through an unlocked door and the victim was violently assaulted,” LA County Sheriff Robert Luna said during a news conference.

At a news conference Wednesday afternoon, Luna displayed security video indicating the suspect had entered Alexander's residence about 2:45 p.m. Monday.

Luna said the suspect drove away a couple of minutes later in Alexander's vehicle — a silver Toyota RAV4, license number 8VPH289, which has since been recovered in Chino.

"Based on the surveillance video, we believe the murder occurred on Aug. 28 at approximately 2:45 p.m.," Luna said.

Luna said security images showed the Alexander's vehicle being driven in Ontario around 3 a.m. Tuesday, and also showed it parked in Chino about three hours later.

"We believe the suspect has been driving around in this vehicle for at least a day — maybe a night — and if anybody saw this vehicle anywhere between the area of Whittier, all the way out to the area of, potentially, Chino or Ontario, please notify our homicide detectives immediately," the sheriff said.

Investigators believe Alexander was killed moments after the attacker was thwarted while trying to kill another elderly man at a nearby home. In the first attack, the victim's son intervened to save his father, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.

The suspect is described as a male adult with a dark complexion and facial hair. He is of a thin build, about 150 lbs., wearing dark-colored pants and a tan shirt, and is about 30 years old.

The suspect is believed to be anywhere and should be considered armed and dangerous, police say. It is also believed that the suspect may be homeless.
