ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Vice President JD Vance and his family will be vacationing in Orange County, possibly visiting the Happiest Place On Earth over the weekend, according to a report.

According to the Orange County Register, the vice president is rumored to be planning a visit Disneyland where temporary flight restrictions were placed around the theme park from Friday to Sunday.

Disneyland does not confirm guest's travel plans.

Amid reports of heavy police presence outside Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, officials face a logistical challenge protecting the Vice President in a place that draws more than 50,000 people a day.

Despite being home to the vaunted "Hall of Presidents," it's very rare for sitting presidents or vice presidents to visit Disneyland. The last time a sitting president visited the House of Mouse was in 1975, when Gerald Ford made the trip, according to Mouse Planet.

Vance has chosen a tense time to visit Orange County. The Trump Administration's immigration crackdown is deeply unpopular in many parts of Southern California, and especially in Anaheim, where the tourism industry is largely dependent on immigrant labor. Last month, Anaheim hosted one of the largest "No Kings" protests in the region.

Roughly 35 percent of Anaheim's residents are foreign born, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Countywide, immigrants represent nearly a third of the population.

Orange County Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento, acknowledged the tension.

“I welcome any policymaker to come to our community and see for themselves how hardworking our immigrant communities are and how they make our country great,” Sarmiento, who represents the Second District, told the Register. “It is my hope that the administration would come to the table and work with us on reversing these policies that seemed designed to crush our communities and our state.”

Having vowed during the campaign to target undocumented immigrants who are violent criminals, the Trump Administration recently directed federal officers to arrest people on the street, at immigrant hubs and workplaces such as car washes, farms, Home Depots and street vendor stands. The shift has driven widespread protests across Southern California including north Orange County.

The vice president's visit was expected to draw protesters. He was recently booed by a crowd as he left an upscale sushi restaurant in San Diego.
