LOS ANGELES, CA — As we head into the new week, we've rounded up the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, last week's heatwave is behind us — high temperatures are expected to remain below normal across much of the Southland Monday, aside from the farthest interior valleys.

"While chances are still low and uncertainty remains, confidence is increasing for the potential of monsoonal thunderstorms over the mountains late in the week. Marine layer low clouds and patchy fog will spread across the coastal areas and into the western valleys during the nights and mornings," the National Weather Service wrote.
In other news, a boy — possibly as young as 3 — was found dead in a dumpster in the San Fernando Valley over the weekend. Police say they're investigating whether the boy was abused or if he died from natural causes.
