KTLA Apologizes For Tweeting Racial Slur
The news outlet blamed the single word tweet on a technical error.
LOS ANGELES, CA — The West Coast's oldest TV news station, KTLA, issued an apology Friday after mistakenly sending a racial slur as a one-word tweet.
The outlet's official account sent the N-word out in what KTLA later described as a technical error.
"KTLA experienced a technical error while adding language filters to our social media accounts, resulting in an offensive word being accidentally shared," the outlet announced in a follow-up tweet. "We are appalled and apologize that this occurred."

The outlet quickly deleted the offensive tweet but not before social media users noticed it and captured screengrabs.
Commenters on X were largely offended and disbelieving.

"Someone had to write that, check it, and physically click post, then run back, and physically delete it. STOP LYING," wrote Twitter user MikeBaggz.
"Na fam. That was no tech error. Not even the same screen for filtration," responded Broomstick Mafia. "Try harder. Own it."
"This is unacceptable, KTLA. Do better," tweeted Congressional candidate Michael Maxsenti
Others made light of the tweet, and still on X others defended it, criticizing KTLA for apologizing.
KTLA, however, vowed to further investigate the incident.
"KTLA is investigating the exact cause of this incident, and we deeply regret what happened," a KTLA spokeperson told The Wrap. "We again apologize to KTLA’s audience and the greater Los Angeles community.”
