Lancaster Fatal Shooting Suspect Arrested: Sheriff

Lancaster police released the man originally arrested for the shooting.

LANCASTER, CA — L.A. County Sheriff's detectives arrested 29-year-old Rakym Thibodeaux for Friday night's fatal shooting in Lancaster. Detectives originally arrested 34-year-old Palmdale man Terrell Scott for the shooting, but have since released him from custody.

Just after 11:00 P.M. Friday, deputies arrived at a residence on the 1000 block of Nugent Street and found a group of family and friends gathered in the garage. Officials say they found an adult man suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso. The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Thibodeaux originally told deputies he was at the gathering and witnessed the shooting, but officials now suspect he was the shooter. The motive for the argument is unknown and the weapon was recovered at the scene.

Thibodeaux was booked at Lancaster Sheriff’s Station and is being held in lieu of 1 million dollars bail.
