LAPD Shoots Weezer Bassist's Wife Days Before Band's Coachella Performance
While searching for three people suspected of fleeing the scene of a crash, police say the rock star's wife pointed a gun at them.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles Police shot the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner and then arrested her on suspicion of attempted murder, according to Los Angeles Police Department and multiple reports.
The shooting was the culmination of a confounding string of events that started with a pileup on the Ventura (134) Freeway in Eagle Rock Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., the LAPD told Patch. According to the California Highway Patrol, three people involved in the crash fled the scene and ran into a home in the nearby neighborhood. The Los Angeles Police were called to help arrest the trio on suspicion of misdemeanor hit-and-run.
A perimeter was established in the neighborhood around the 1200 block of Eagle Vista Drive, and residents were advised to shelter in place.

"Several minutes later, officers were directed by the CHP to the rear of a residence in the 5100 block of Waldo Place, where one suspect was last seen running. As officers were in the rear yard of that residence, they observed a female, later identified as 51-year-old Jillian Shriner, in the yard of a neighboring residence armed with a handgun," the LAPD announced in a written statement. "The officers ordered Shriner to drop the handgun numerous times; however, she refused. Shriner then pointed the handgun at the officers, and the officer-involved-shooting occurred."
According to the LAPD, Shriner fired her weapon at officers. She was struck by officers' gunfire and retreated inside her home, according to police. About an hour later, she came out again, and was taken into custody and taken to a nearby hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics for treatment of a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Shriner was detained along with another woman identified by KTLA as the woman's babysitter.
According to the LAPD, detectives recovered a 9-millimeter handgun from Shriner's home.
No one else was injured in the shooting. She was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and released from custody according to police.
At least three people were detained in the chase and shootout.
According to KTLA, one suspect ran into a home on Eagle Vista Drive and then stripped and jumped into the backyard swimming pool. He was later arrested in his underwear.
Weezer is scheduled to play Coachella this weekend, the band was a surprise addition to the music festival's lineup this week and was scheduled to play Saturday afternoon. The was no immediate word on whether the band would still play in light of the shooting and arrest of Scott Shriner's wife.
According to TMZ, which identified Shriner as the rickstar's wife, Jillian Shriner is the author of "Some Girls: My Life in a Harem," chronicling her time as a "guest" of the Prince of Brunei.
Two other suspects remained at large Wednesday.
