Longtime TV Anchor To Step Down
A familiar face across SoCal, the anchor described the decision to leave the station as a "difficult" one.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Elex Michaelson, the veteran anchor of Fox 11's evening and late-night newscasts, is departing the station.
The anchor in a social media post described the decision to leave as a "difficult" one and said he was making the move "to pursue an exciting new opportunity...that I'm not allowed to talk about just yet."
"What I can talk about...is my enormous gratitude to my incredibly talented FOX 11 colleagues, all the guests I've had the honor of interviewing, and so many of you for your support," Michaelson wrote.

His last day at the station is Aug. 15, he said.
A representative of Fox Television Stations, the parent company of Fox 11, described the anchor's departure as amicable, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Michaelson, 38, has been at the station since 2017. He co-anchored the 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts with Christine Devine and the 6 p.m. hour with Maria Tellez, the Times reported.
He's also the host and producer of the statewide political talk show “The Issue Is,” which airs on stations across California.
Michaelson previously worked at ABC 7 in Los Angeles and XETV in San Diego.
The Agoura Hills native's first job in broadcasting was as an intern at Fox 11, the Times reported.
