Los Angeles Man Finds Out What It Takes To Become A Superhero
We all know someone who's making a difference. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES, CA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Kwesi Jordan who nominated Yuri Williams of Los Angeles.

How do you know the local hero?
I have known him since junior high school
What does the local hero do?
He is a Probation Officer & Founder of the nonprofit A Future Super Hero And Friends.
Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?
This man does so much for people. After his mother passed in 2009, he fell into a depression period. Then one day realized he had to make a change. That’s when he created the nonprofit A Future Super Hero And Friends. He began serving the homeless in Skidrow, Los Angeles, Hollywood, San Pedro, Orange County and all of the surrounding areas. He then began serving animals, veterans in Westwood, senior homes and visiting children in the hospital/homes, who are battling illness, have a disability or special needs. But he does it in superhero costumes. During the pandemic, he was still out there giving out groceries, Easter baskets, school school supplies, and art kits. He is a real hero — even feeding the homeless when a lot of people turned their backs. He put his life on the line. Last week, he was surprised by The Rock. He bought out the movie theater and gave tickets to all the people his nonprofit serves.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?
That he always puts others first. During the holidays, he travels across the 50 states to visit children that are sick and gifts them toys. Now, he takes off work for 20 days using his own time to help others. He has done this in 2017,2018 and 2021. That’s 60 days of giving across America to uplift those hé services.
Thank you for all you do, Yuri Williams!
