'MAGA Dentist' Goes Viral For Joke About Hurting Liberal Patients: Report

A Southern California dentist is facing backlash after a video surfaced of her joking about denying pain-relieving gas for her liberal patients.

Dr. Harleen Grewal of Skyline Smiles in Santa Clarita joked about her distaste for Democrats during a speech at the Republican Liberty Gala in 2021. The comments recently attracted attention after a video of the speech went viral on TikTok, The Los Angeles Times reported.

“I have a secret hat I use sometimes, it says, ‘Make your smile great again,’” she said at the gala. “So I wear that when I work with my patients, when they look horrified or complain, I quietly cut back on the laughing gas.”

The dentist also quipped about left-leaning patients' reactions to a wall of photos in her office honoring Republican leaders, the Times reported.

Grewal's office has seen more than 100 one-star Yelp reviews this week, the Times reported.

Grewal addressed the controversy in an op-ed, “You Can’t Cancel Me," published in the Santa Clarita Valley Signal this month.

"To anyone reading this who’s ever been afraid to speak up — don’t be. Cancel culture only wins if we stay quiet. We need to build a community where hard work is honored, free speech is respected, and you don’t have to hide your beliefs to run a business or serve your neighbors," she wrote.
