Man Dead After Car Broadsides Moving Train In Pomona
A man was killed Sunday morning when the car he was driving crashed into a freight train in Pomona.
POMONA, CA — A man was killed Sunday morning when the car he was driving crashed into a freight train in Pomona.
The crash occurred just after 2 a.m. on Palomares Street north of First Street, according to the Pomona Police Department.
Arriving officers discovered a sedan had apparently broadsided a moving Union Pacific Railroad train at a high rate of speed, police said.

Firefighters used the jaws of life to extricate the motorist from the vehicle, according to sources at the scene. Los Angeles County firefighters pronounced him dead at the scene.
Union Pacific officials were cooperating with the investigation, which shut down Palomares Street between First Street and Commercial Street.
