Man Dies After House Fire In Silver Lake

The 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the hospital, officials said.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Firefighters quickly put out flames in a second-floor bedroom of a Silver Lake house Saturday but found an injured man inside the house who later died.

The fire was reported at 4:05 p.m. Saturday at 743 N. La Fayette Park Place, near Marathon Street, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

The 34 assigned firefighters put out the flames in 17 minutes and prevented it from spreading to the attic, Stewart said.

"While conducting the primary search, firefighters located a victim on the second floor," she said. "Crews immediately brought the victim out to firefighter/paramedics for treatment/transport."

The 55-year-old man was pronounced dead at the hospital, Stewart said.

Arson investigators will work with Los Angeles Police Department detectives under a protocol for fatal fires, she said.
