Manhunt On For LA Kidnapping Suspect

Following a police chase, the suspect abandoned his car and victim and fled on foot into an apartment complex, according to the LAPD.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A search continues for a kidnapping suspect, who eluded police in the early morning hours after a chase on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway Tuesday.

Following the police chase, the suspect abandoned the vehicle near Venice and Hauser boulevards, leaving his victim in the car, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Tony Im told Patch.

Police had responded to a report of a possible kidnapping shortly before 1:30 a.m. in the 1700 block of Hauser Boulevard, Im said.

"Officers observed the suspect vehicle at 1:53 in the morning, and they got into a pursuit," Im said. "The suspect fled on foot Hauser and Ridgeley"

"The victim was located safely," he added. "It appears the victim was located in the vehicle."

The suspected, a man in his late 20s, reportedly fled on foot into a nearby apartment complex in the Mid-city area of Los Angeles. Police set up a perimeter in the area, and closed it to traffic while they searched with the aid of police dogs and a helicopter.

Police were seen searching a blue Toyota Prius left behind by the suspect.

As of 10 a.m., the search remained ongoing.
