Mass Shooting In LA: 8 Shot, 2 Dead

Two people were killed in the early Monday morning shooting, police said.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Two people were killed and six others were injured Monday in a shooting downtown, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The shooting occurred just after 1 a.m. Monday at 14th Place and Paloma Street, according to a police spokesperson. The violence erupted at a warehouse party just hours after police had arrested someone at the gathering for possessing a gun, Fox 11 reported.

The shooting, which police said was gang related, occurred in an industrial area just north of the 10 Freeway that was hosting several such late-night parties.

A man, estimated to be between 25 and 30, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 52-year-old woman died after transporting herself to a local hospital, police said.

A 34-year-old man and a 37-year-old man were rushed to a hospital in critical condition. And three men — 62, 28 and 26 — and a 28-year-old woman were transported to hospitals by paramedics with stable vital signs, police said.

Gang officers who were patrolling the area spotted an armed person running into a warehouse where the party was being held. They shut down the gathering and arrested a suspect at around 11 p.m. Sunday, Fox 11 reported.

Two hours later, more than a dozen shots were fired into the crowd. Officers returned to the scene to discover multiple people suffering from gunshot wounds and trails of blood along the street, the station reported.
