McDonald's Tries Something New With Minecraft Meals

LOS ANGELES, CA — The widely anticipated Minecraft movie comes out Friday, families can make a Minecraft day of it with McDonald's limited edition Minecraft Movie Meal (an adult happy meal) and a Minecraft Happy Meal.

The meal collaboration, available this week, is a first for the Golden Arches. The Happy Meal will include a scannable in-game quest. The pixelated meals clearly mine the nostalgia of young parents who grew up playing the game and want to share the experience with their children.

According to Forbes, the campaign bridges "Millennial memories with Gen Alpha's digital expectations."

The Minecraft Movie Meal adult happy meal includes a choice of Big Mac or a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets or a McSpicy chicken sandwich. It comes medium fries and fountain drink. And of course it comes with a toy or one of six collectibles featuring classic McDonald’s characters in Minecraft: Big Mac Crystal, Birdie Wings, Fry Helmet, Grimace Egg, Soda Potion and Zombie Hamburglar.
