Mother Hits, Kills 2-Year-Old Daughter While Moving RV At Beach: Report

The mother of a 2-year-old girl struck and killed the toddler while moving an RV at an LA County beach, police said.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The mother of a 2-year-old girl struck and killed the toddler with an RV she was moving near Dockweiler State Beach Saturday, KTLA reported.

The incident was reported at 5:47 p.m. Saturday on the 12200 block of Vista del Mar, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The child was identified as Merida Castillo, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office.

The girl was struck by an RV that was backing out of a private property, police said.

KTLA reported that the girl's mother was moving the vehicle, heard a noise and realized she had struck the child.

The woman and her daughter are from Lancaster, police said.
