Officer Hurt In Pasadena Rollover Crash

The officer was attempting to stop a stolen Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen ahead of the crash.

PASADENA, CA — A Los Angeles police officer was recovering Thursday after being injured in a crash into a wall while attempting a PIT maneuver on a stolen Mercedes-Benz SUV that eventually collided with another vehicle and rolled over in Pasadena.

The chase began about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Century Boulevard and Figueroa Street after the owner reported the vehicle theft and police tried to pull the G-Wagen over, according to a broadcast report.

The high-speed chase made its way over freeways and into Pasadena, where the pursuing Los Angeles Police Department cruiser crashed after a failed try at bumping the Mercedes.

The cruiser smashed into wall in the area of Walnut and Hill streets. The officer was injured and taken to a hospital, but an update on his condition was not immediately available.

The G-Wagon collided soon after with a vehicle at the intersection of Foothill and Sierra Madre boulevards.

Video aired by KTLA showed the G-Wagon being launched into the air and rolling over several times.

The suspect was then taken into custody.

Two people from that crash were taken to a hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available.
