Over 4,000 Residents Join Rep. Brad Sherman for Year-End Telephone Town Hall

SHERMAN OAKS, Calif. — On Wednesday, Congressman Brad Sherman’s (D-CA-32) year-end Telephone Town Hall drew another strong turnout, with more than 4,000 residents joining to hear the veteran lawmaker review key battles from the past year and outline the challenges and priorities facing Congress in the months ahead.

Sherman said the event marked his final town hall of 2025, capping a year of frequent outreach to constituents amid what he described as an especially turbulent period in Washington.

“I’m grateful that thousands of residents continue to join these town halls,” Sherman said. “We’ve pushed back against reckless policies that raise costs and threaten basic protections, but there is more work ahead — and staying connected with constituents is essential to that fight.”

In his opening remarks, Sherman highlighted efforts over the past year to counter policies advanced by President Trump and congressional Republicans, which he said have increased everyday costs, threatened health care affordability, and weakened federal consumer and worker protections. He warned that Republican inaction in Congress could lead to significant health insurance premium increases in the coming year, stressing the need to protect families from rising out-of-pocket costs.

As a senior member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Sherman also addressed what he described as reckless actions by the Trump administration abroad, including recent Venezuelan boat strikes. He cautioned against unilateral military actions carried out without transparency or accountability, warning they risk broader instability and unintended consequences.

Sherman further discussed the recent antisemitic terror attack at Bondi Beach in Australia, placing it in the context of rising antisemitism worldwide. He emphasized that combating antisemitism has been a central focus of his career and underscored the need for international cooperation and moral clarity in confronting hate and political violence.

Throughout the town hall, Sherman answered questions on aggressive ICE deportation raids, rising prices, threats to Medicare and Social Security, and the broader direction of the country under the Trump administration. He reaffirmed his commitment to holding the administration accountable and advocating for working families across the San Fernando Valley and surrounding communities.

The event also featured California Assemblymember Nick Schultz, who discussed priorities in the State Legislature, including efforts to address affordability, protect access to health care, and strengthen coordination between state and federal leaders during a period of economic and political uncertainty.
