🤔 Aggressive Urban Coyotes or Regular L.A. County Wildlife? Poll!
We live with raccoons and opossums. Do coyotes fall into the same category? They don’t need open space, have no problems building dens close to humans, and are becoming more and more visible on our neighborhood streets. What do you think? So far, 59.4% think we need to learn to live with them, 38.6% want them gone, and 2% don’t care one way or the other.
📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:
1) The PD is looking for a hit-and-run driver who killed a bicyclist in a crash Thursday night. It happened at 61st Street and Wall Street. The driver had a “white 1996 to 2022 GMC Savana or Chevrolet Express commercial panel van with a roof rack and storage container on top.” There’s a good chance the car has front-end damage. Drop a dime to 213-833-3713, and you may be eligible for a $50,000 reward. (KTLA)
2) On Thursday, firefighters responded to 3483 North Barham Boulevard after reports of a brush fire. It spanned less than a quarter of an acre. It took 45 firefighters around 40 minutes to put it out. (LAFD)
3) In December 2021, a 12-year-old Wilmington boy was killed by a stray bullet. That same day, a nine-year-old was stuck by a bullet at Wilmington Park Elementary, but survived. According to officials, both shootings are related. On Friday, we learned that the LAPD arrested two suspects in the killing. They are 21 and 19 years old. “Officials said the two are cousins and are active East Side Wilmas gang members.” (Fox LA)
4) Residents in southeast L.A. may be able to breathe more easily now. The South Coast Air Quality Management District ordered Baker Commodities at 4020 Bandini Boulevard “to stop its operations in Vernon for ongoing air quality violations.” The company may reopen and continue doing business once “all operations or equipment required by the order are within a permanent total enclosure or a closed system.” (CBS)
5) Mark your calendars! The ice rink at Pershing Square is coming back, and it is scheduled to open the day before Thanksgiving and remain open until New Year’s Day. Tickets go on sale this Monday. (NBC)
