Person Killed In Fiery Crash On Freeway Near Universal Studios

A white sedan struck a concrete barrier on the right shoulder of the freeway and caught fire, the CHP said.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A person was killed in a fiery, single-vehicle crash Sunday on the Hollywood (101) Freeway near Universal Studios, authorities said.

The crash occurred at about 4:40 a.m. on the southbound freeway at Universal Studios Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.

A white sedan struck a concrete barrier on the right shoulder of the freeway and caught fire, the CHP said.

The victim's age and gender were not immediately available, and the person's name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

A Sigalert issued at 5:52 a.m. for the southbound 101 Freeway at the Universal Studios on-ramp was canceled at 6:05 a.m.
