Pileup Involving Amazon Truck Litters Freeway With Packages

Drivers and shoppers can both expect delays due to a pileup involving an Amazon tractor trailer and a tanker.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A pileup involving an Amazon tractor trailer on the Golden State (5) Freeway in East Los Angeles sent packages scattered across the roadway and jammed up the morning commute Monday.

Drivers and shoppers can both expect delays.

The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert during the morning rush hour that was expected to last at least two hours.

According to the CHP, the crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. Monday at the Ditman Avenue on-ramp. At least four vehicles were involved in the crash.

"CHP officers are on scene and are working to clear the roadway and keep it safe for all motorists," the CHP said in a statement on social media.

The crash sent hundreds of packages rolling across the freeway, and blocked several lanes. Additionally, about 40 gallons of fuel spilled onto the road, and a light pole was damaged.

No injuries were immediately reported.
