Project Rewear Launches Halloween Costume Pop-Up Shop in Thousand Oaks
Project Rewear, a leader in preloved kids' fashion launches costume pop-up Shop in Thousand Oaks on October 5th through October 30th
Kimberly Lau, an entrepreneur and 'mom on a mission' is driven by passion with a valuable cause to empower families to embrace sustainable choices in clothing. Recognizing the environmental damage caused by 'fast fashion,' Lau founded Project Rewear, "a sustainable haven for preloved kids' wear." The Halloween Costume pop-up shop, which is open now has costumes for people of all ages, and the launch of the full store on December 7 will carry preloved clothing for kids and adults.
Giving everyone a sneak peek of Project Rewear’s handpicked and styled outfits prior to the launch of their permanent location, the Halloween pop-up shop, features a vast and unique collection of preloved costumes in like-new condition. The Project Rewear Halloween Costume Pop-Up Shop launches Friday, October 5th and it will be open until Wednesday, October 30th at 2940-C E. Thousand Oaks Blvd, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362.
By offering stylish and affordable secondhand clothing, Project Rewear aims to reduce the demand for excessive textile production, conserve resources, and to foster a culture of responsible consumption. Los Angeles, with its blend of fashion-forward thinking and environmental consciousness, provides the ideal backdrop for Project Rewear, catering to the growing desire for sustainable choices, choices that are kind to the planet. Lau envisions a future where "buying preloved clothing for children becomes the norm," challenging the notion that kids need a constant influx of new clothes and advocating for the normalization and benefits of secondhand shopping.

Kimberly Lau's commitment to sustainable fashion led her on a journey earlier this year to visit and shop at over 100 thrift stores across Southern California, where she meticulously handpicked 12,000 pieces of high-quality, stylish kids' wear. Lau's focus on durability, style, and condition of each curated item, ensured that each article of clothing offers both longevity and fashion appeal. This experience highlighted for Lau the vast potential and benefits to the environment by supporting the secondhand market for kids' wear. There is an abundance of barely worn clothing waiting to be rediscovered and saved from becoming textile waste. Witnessing the sheer volume of clothing in secondhand stores served as a "powerful motivator for Kimberly." The 12,000 items she curated represents a tangible impact on reducing the waste of precious resources and in promoting sustainability.
Kimberly Lau helps parents to recognize their power in shaping a sustainable future, emphasizing by example that choosing preloved clothing sends a message of environmental responsibility and challenges the unsustainable practices of fast fashion. Lau states, "By supporting Project Rewear and embracing shopping for preloved kids' wear, parents become part of a movement that redefines fashion and instills eco-conscious values in the next generation. Lau encourages everyone to spread the word about sustainable fashion, "Every preloved purchase creates a ripple effect, inspiring others and driving the fashion industry towards greater sustainability." Concluding, "As a community that loves fashion, we can unite for positive change and transform the way we dress our children, fostering a community that values the conservation of resources, reduces textile waste, and lowers its carbon footprint. By embracing preloved clothing, we not only make a positive impact on the environment, but we also teach our children the importance of responsible consumption and mindful choices."
