📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:

  1. Updates on the human remains found in the L.A. Port: We talked on Tuesday about the discovery of unidentified human remains at the port. Some assumed that the individual might have been associated with one of the ships coming through the facility. We learned Thursday that the remains were identified as belonging to a 42-year-old man with a Norwalk address. (Patch, 2)
  2. If you have information on the "Chesapeake Bandits," the FBI and Brinks each wants to pay you $25,000. These folks have allegedly spent the last year robbing armored vehicles. Authorities believe a “residence on Chesapeake Avenue in the West Adams, Los Angeles neighborhood” to be the meeting place for the suspects. However, they’ve been unable to find all of them. Hence, Thursday's offer of a reward. (CBS)
  3. If you’ve been to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) since November, you may remember seeing 15 tents on the 6th Street sidewalk just behind the museum. An estimated 40 neighbors lived at this location until late last month. Now, they’re gone, having chosen to accept the offer of interim housing. Mayor Karen Bass made good on her “Inside Safe” promise. “The program was a collaboration between Council District 5, the Mayor’s Office, the Los Angeles departments of Sanitation, Transportation, and Police, LAHSA (the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority), The People Concern and Fairfax Mutual Aid.” (Larchmont Chronicle)
  4. Trees continue to fall across L.A. One fell Wednesday night on a home at 5041 North Alhama Drive; nobody was hurt. The L.A. Zoo closed its gates on Thursday to clean up downed trees. Other trees toppled in Brentwood, Eagle Rock, Elysian Park, Pico Union, and Sawtelle. “It’s 130-foot trees falling over. It’s terrifying,” a neighbor said. (KTLA)
  5. What’s the newest, hottest sport that’s taking the Eastside by storm? We learned on Wednesday that it’s slacklining! It is what it sounds like: Folks try to balance on an inch-wide flat webbing line that has some give. If you’d like to connect with some others in love with the sport, head to The Stronghold Climbing Gym at 650 South Avenue 21, where a dedicated slacking night is held each month. If you’d like to see some highliners — as opposed to those who keep the slackline only a few inches off the ground — head to Elysian Park. (The Eastsider LA)
