SigAlert: Gunfire Shuts Down LA County Freeway

A suspect has been taken into custody, but commuters are advised to find alternate routes Friday morning.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A shooting shut down the Pomona (60) Freeway in the Hacienda Heights area during the Friday morning rush hour, and police have taken a suspect into custody.

Deputies responded to reports of shots fired adjacent to the freeway at 7th Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department. No one was hurt in the gunfire, which reportedly occurred near a Denny's restaurant alongside the freeway.

The investigation and search for the suspect prompted the California Highway Patrol to intermittently shut down the freeway and issue a SigAlert during the ongoing investigation. The closures backed up traffic on both sides of the freeway and the nearby San Gabriel (605) Freeway.
