Snoop Dogg Sued In LA Federal Court

The recording artist is facing a copyright lawsuit over a video he allegedly posted on Instagram without the owner's permission.

LOS ANGELES, CA —Snoop Dogg is facing a copyright lawsuit in Los Angeles over a video he allegedly posted on Instagram without the owner's permission, according to court papers obtained Tuesday.

Media outlet FreedomNews.TV alleges in the suit, filed in federal court on Monday, that the rapper lacked authorization from the copyright holder to upload the video of a protester who attempted to climb a Manhattan office building and then fell to the ground.

According to FreedomNews.TV, the rapper - whose real name is Calvin Broadus - "purposefully failed to include the video credit originally conveyed with the video in order to mislead the public into believing that defendant either owned the video or had legitimately licensed it," the lawsuit alleges.

A representative of the rapper -who turns 50 on Wednesday - could not immediately be reached for comment.
