INGLEWOOD, CA — One of two trained hawks that was stolen from outside SoFi Stadium during a Rams game last month was found over 20 miles away in the San Gabriel Valley, according to a report.

The theft occurred Sept. 28 from the lake area outside Sofi, when a suspect hopped into a Kawasaki Mule utility task vehicle and drove off the property. Inside the vehicle were two Harris' hawks — named Bubba and Alice — which are used during games by a falconer to scare other birds away from the venue, according to the Inglewood Police Department.

First, the vehicle turned up.

The stolen UTV — similar to a heavy-duty golf cart — was found two days after the theft at Avalon and Century boulevards in South Los Angeles, but the hawks were not with the vehicle, Inglewood Mayor James Butts told ABC 7.

Then on Sunday, one of the birds was located.

A Hacienda Heights homeowner spotted a hawk that turned out to be Bubba in her backyard on Sunday. She called Inglewood police, who reached out to SoFi's falconer, NBC 4 reported.

"I made arrangements got over there as quick as I could, and got Bubba back," falconer Charles Cogger said. "Alice is still out there, but this gives me hope she will show up."

Hacienda Heights is located over 20 miles away — as a Hawk flies — from Inglewood.

Cogger's hopefulness comes after he previously received erroneous news that his birds had been found dead.

When the vehicle was recovered by police on Tuesday, they found two dead birds with it. Officers told Cogger that the hawks were found dead, but authorities later realized that the dead birds were actually a pair of quails that are used to feed the hawks, NBC 4 reported.

Now, the search for Alice continues.

Anyone with any information about the bird's whereabouts is asked to contact the Inglewood Police Department at 310-412-5206.
