Son Arrested In Stabbing Death Of Parents

An Azusa man, 29, who was hospitalized with stab wounds, is suspected of stabbing his parents to death in their Azusa home, police said.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his parents at their home Saturday in Azusa, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced Friday.

Detectives believe Gabriel Contreras stabbed to death his parents Linda Rodriguez, 50, and Arthur Contreras Saturday at their Azusa, home in the 300 block of North Twintree Avenue.

The Azusa Police Department was called to the scene at 2 p.m. on Saturday to respond to a report of a person screaming. When they arrived, they found Gabriel Contreras outside the home with stab wounds of his own, according to sheriff's officials He was rushed by paramedics to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Inside, they house, officers found the bodies of his parents. They had been stabbed repeatedly, according to sheriff's investigators. Gabriel Contreras is also suspected of pointing a weapon at neighbors before police arrived on scene.

Gabriel Contreras has been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon. He remains jailed with bail set at $2 million.
