Tujunga Hiker Stranded, Rescue Underway

A 26-year-old man was stranded Sunday in a remote area of the Tujunga mountains and was awaiting air rescue, authorities said.

TUJUNGA, CA — A 26-year-old man was stranded Sunday in a remote area of the Tujunga mountains and was awaiting air rescue, authorities said.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 1:36 p.m. Sunday to Haines Canyon Motorway, where the hiker was located in terrain inaccessible by ground, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Los Angeles County Fire Department air resources were requested, and crews planned to extract the man via hoist and transport him to a local hospital. No further information was immediately available.
