Unruly Crowd Causes Disturbance at Hollywood Skateboard Event
A large crowd at a Hollywood Boulevard skateboarding event set off fireworks and torched trash cans.
HOLLYWOOD, CA — A crowd watching a skateboard event in Hollywood became unruly Saturday evening, setting off fireworks, torching trash cans and taking selfies.
The unrest began about 7:20 p.m. at Hollywood Boulevard and Las Palmas Avenue, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Drake Madison.
Video from the scene showed trash cans on fire and thick smoke from those fires and fireworks while some in the crowd took selfies.

Officers at the scene called for backup and worked to break up the crowd as firefighters put out the flames, Madison said.
There was no word about injuries or arrests, he said.
