V Wine Room is West Hollywood’s Hidden Wine Gem

If you’re a fan of California-style wines but aren’t in the mood for a trek to Sonoma, Napa, or Santa Ynez, V Wine Room in West Hollywood is worth a visit. Nestled away on Westbourne Drive, just off Santa Monica Boulevard, this charming spot may not boast much curb appeal, but it offers a delightful experience once you step inside.

It’s easy to miss the entrance to this cozy wine bar, but once you enter the interior exudes a library-like charm, with shelves lined with books, an impressive array of wine bottles, and artwork from local artists. The focal point is a unique V-shaped marble bar, surrounded by dark wood, pendant lighting, and bookcases that showcase wines.

The staff at V Wine Room are knowledgeable and passionate about their offerings. They focus primarily on boutique California wines not commonly found in retail stores, featuring limited production selections from lesser-known winemakers.

During our visit, enjoyed a cheese and charcuterie board (five cheeses/meats for $39), expertly prepared with a selection of whole grain mustard, crackers, mixed nuts, and fruits. It complemented our wine perfectly.

Guests can also order a variety of Roman-style pizzas, sushi, and tinned fish.

The wine list is extensive, with around 100 wines available by the glass and 200 bottles in total.

Interestingly, V Wine Room's building has a storied past. Originally a library in the 1930s, it was also Charlie Chaplin’s rehearsal studio in the 1920s. Today, it stands as a testament to the area's rich history and a fantastic spot for wine lovers seeking something off the beaten path.

V Wine Room is a hidden treasure in West Hollywood, offering an impressive selection of boutique wines, a cozy atmosphere, and knowledgeable staff. It’s the perfect place for an intimate wine tasting without the hassle of a long drive. Located at 903 Westbourne Drive, open 4pm to 10pm Monday through Wednesday, 4 pm to 11pm Thursday and Friday, and 2:30pm to 11pm on Saturday and Sunday.
