Weeklong 405 Freeway Lane Closures Planned

Road work will shut down lanes on a 10.2-mile section of the 405 Freeway in July.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A 10.2-mile stretch of the 405 Freeway will be subject to overnight lane closures beginning Monday, June 14.

The closures are due to road work in and around the Sepulveda Pass, stretching from Van Nuys to Westwood, according to Caltrans.

Crews will work to replace K-rails from Monday through Saturday, July 19 between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The work is part of a larger project that includes the replacement of freeway lanes from Victory Boulevard southward to Mulholland Drive to enhance safety and improve mobility, according to Caltrans.

Two overhead signs and 98 sign panels will also be replaced. Also planned is the replacement of 6,400 feet of metal beam guardrail, along with 10 curb ramps.

The $144 million project is expected to be finished by winter 2028-29, Caltrans said.
