Where To Dispose Of Expired, Unused Drugs In LA County

On Oct. 26, Kaiser Permanente is offering free, no-questions-asked service for safely disposing of medications at locations across SoCal.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Do you have unused or expired prescription medications taking up space in your cabinets? Here's where you can safely dispose of them this month.

As part of the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 26, Kaiser Permanente Southern California is partnering with law enforcement to open up a dozen locations across the Southland for people to drop off unwanted medications.

The service is free and no questions will be asked.

It's important to get rid of old medications since they are the leading cause of accidental poisoning in households. Unused or expired medication thrown out in the trash or flushed can also pollute the environment.

All prescription medications will be accepted but no needles or sharp objects can be dropped off.

Medications can be dropped off from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the locations listed below:

  • Antelope Valley Medical Offices, 615 West Ave. L, Lancaster
  • Baldwin Park Medical Center, 1011 Baldwin Park Blvd., Baldwin Park (at the patient drop-off area)
  • Bellflower Medical Offices, 9400 East Rosecrans Ave., Bellflower
  • Los Angeles Medical Center, 4760 West Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles
  • Panorama City Medical Center, 13651 Willard St., Panorama City (front of the hospital)
  • South Bay Medical Center, 25965 South Normandie Ave., Harbor City
  • West Los Angeles Medical Center, 6041 Cadillac Ave., Los Angeles
  • Woodland Hills Medical Center, 5601 De Soto Ave., Woodland Hills (in the parking lot)
