Woman Suffers Serious Injuries During Mattress Fire Inside Apartment

A 30-year-old woman suffered critical injuries after her mattress caught on fire near Exposition Park.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Firefighters discovered a 30-year-old woman with critical burn injuries Sunday while extinguishing a mattress fire at a two-story apartment building in Exposition Park.

Firefighters dispatched at 10:24 a.m. Sunday to 3700 S. Western Ave. had the fire out at 10:36 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire was contained to the unit of origin.

Paramedics rushed the woman to a hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Arson investigators were probing the cause of the fire.
