🤔 Aggressive Urban Coyotes or Regular L.A. County Wildlife? Poll!

We live with raccoons and opossums. Do coyotes fall into the same category? They don’t need open space, have no problems building dens close to humans, and are becoming more and more visible on our neighborhood streets. What do you think? So far, 59.1% think we need to learn to live with them, 38.6% want them gone, and 2.3% don’t care one way or the other.

📰 Here are the top stories in Los Angeles today:

1) On Wednesday, a landscaper was killed on Huntington Drive in the El Sereno neighborhood. A driver lost control of their car a little before 2 p.m., striking the man who was working in the street’s center divider. (CBS)

2) A pedestrian and his dogs were killed Thursday on 5th and Hill Street. Shortly after midnight, the man was hit by a driver who “had already barreled into at least six other cars, leaving a three-block trail of destruction.” Officials determined that the driver, who was taken into custody, was under the influence. (CBS)

3) On Thursday, there was a groundbreaking ceremony for the “LANI Santa Monica Pedestrian Improvement Project” at the corner of Hoover and Santa Monica. This project aims to increase the safety of pedestrians accessing an existing bus stop. “Improvements include bus stop upgrades, pedestrian level lighting & shade trees.” (StreetsLA)

4) We learned on Thursday that the La Brea Tar Pits, “the only ongoing, urban Ice Age excavation in the world,” located at 5801 Wilshire Boulevard, has been selected as a geological heritage site. The determination was made by the International Union of Geological Sciences. (NBC)

5) Mark your calendars! The Horrorcon is coming to the Los Angeles Convention Center starting Saturday. Head to South Hall K to meet celebrities, artists, and exhibitors. Hours of operation are 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. (HorrorconLA)
