Attic Fire Destroys Los Alamitos Family's Home

A family of four is left without a home this holiday season after an attic fire destroyed their Los Alamitos home.

LOS ALAMITOS, CA — A Los Alamitos family is raising money for essential needs this holiday season after an attic fire destroyed their home.

According to the Orange County Fire authority, the fire broke out inside a home on Nov. 30 at about 1:20 p.m. Crews arrived within five minutes to see pressurized smoke coming from multiple attic cents.

"Firefighters quickly advanced hose lines into the single story house and initiated an attack on the fire and a search for residents," OCFA said. "Additional units arrived and were able to complete a search for residents and confirm there were no injuries."

Firefighters extinguished the blaze within 15 minutes and the cause of the fire is still under investigation, OCFA said. None of the family, which includes a 12-year-old girl, a 10-year-old boy, their parents and their family dogs, were injured in the fire.

"While we are so grateful they escaped safely, everything they owned—memories, belongings, and a sense of security—was taken in an instant," the couple's daughter-in-law Lindsey Butler said on GoFundMe. "This tragedy has left them without a place to call home, and we are doing everything we can to support them in this time of need."

As of Tuesday, the Butlers' have raised $2,534 of their $11,000 goal with 19 donations. To donate to the family's fundraiser, visit their GoFundMe page.
