SEAL BEACH, CA — Be aware, Seal Beach: a strong winter storm is on its way to town, just in time for Christmas.

The rains are expected to span Tuesday, Dec. 23 through Sunday, Dec. 28.

According to the National Weather Service, residents can expect intermittent periods of heavy rain and potential flooding in low-lying areas, especially near the coast.

Seal Beach business owners and residents were urged to install their floodgates before Tuesday night as a precautionary measure to protect against the rains.

  • Fire Station 44 — 8th Street and Central Avenue.
  • Fire Station 48 — 3131 Northgate Road.
  • Arbor Park — 4665 Lampson Avenue.

"The City of Seal Beach Marine Safety Department, Public Works Department, Orange County Fire Authority and Police Department will monitor conditions throughout the winter season and respond appropriately as issues arise," SBPD Lieutenant Julia Clasby said. "Residents are encouraged to monitor the surf and weather conditions and take steps to protect themselves and their property."
