'Do-Or-Die Moment' Firefighters Save Woman Trapped In Rossmoor Fire

Orange County firefighters worked quickly to save a woman trapped in her second-story bedroom during a house fire in Roosmoor.

ROSSMOOR, CA — Orange County firefighters rescued a woman trapped in her second-floor bedroom during a house fire in Rossmoor Monday afternoon.

When the first Orange County Fire Authority fire engine arrived at the scene at about 4:05 p.m. in the 12500 block of Foster Road, the home was already heavily involved in fire and smoke poured out from the window. Firefighters said they could hear the woman screaming for help.

"In a do-or-die moment, the crew on Engine 2 executed a perfect ladder throw, rapidly rescuing the victim and bringing her to safety, where firefighter/paramedics were waiting to provide immediate care," OCFA said in a statement.

Paramedics took the woman to a local hospital in stable condition for treatment.

Firefighting crews were able to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent homes, OCFA said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
