Former NFL Player And LAHS Alumn Arrested In City Hall MAGA Protest
Former Minnesota Vikings punter Chris Kluwe was arrested at a Huntington Beach City Council meeting while protesting.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — Former NFL star and Los Alamitos High School alumnus Chris Kluwe was arrested at a Huntington Beach City Council meeting on Tuesday after criticizing the design of a plaque set to be installed at the City's library.
Kluwe, who played as a punter for the Minnesota Vikings and has lived in Huntington Beach for 15 years, voiced his opposition to the controversial plaque design meant to celebrate the Central Library's 50th anniversary.
Since its unanimous approval by the City Council, the plaque's message made headlines for the inclusion of the acronym MAGA, referencing President Donald Trump's slogan "Make America Great Again."

At the meeting, Kluwe said MAGA promoted "profoundly corrupt unmistakenly anti-democracy" beliefs. Kluwe then addressed the council members saying he would "engage in the time-honored American tradition of peaceful civil disobedience,” and approached them with his hands behind his back.
Police promptly arrested Kluwe and led him out of the city council chambers. It is unclear what charges he faced.
