Heat Wave Coming To SoCal, With Warm Weather Hitting Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS, CA — A sweltering heat wave is headed to Orange County and all across the southwestern United States this weekend.

The National Weather Service issued an Excessive Heat Watch through Sunday to many desert communities, where some temperatures are expected to climb as high as 117 degrees Saturday.

The heat wave is on track to be the hottest of the season, National Weather Service meteorologist Eric Boldt told the Los Angeles Times.

In inland Orange County, temperatures will increase to 85 on Friday and 87 on Saturday, according to AccuWeather. Sunday temperatures are expected to cool down to 83.

Los Alamitos and Seal Beach will see temperatures rise the 79 degrees on Friday, reaching 81 degrees on Saturday before a slight cool down to 79 degrees on Sunday, according to AccuWeather. Temperatures will drop slightly to 77 Monday and remain in the low to mid-80s for the rest of the week. Winds anywhere from 5-15 mph are expected during this period.

Temperatures in the inland Los Angeles area will be significantly warmer, climbing to 96 degrees through Sunday. Coastal areas can expect temperatures in the upper 70s, with a high of 81 predicted for Saturday.

Residents should drink plenty of water, avoid prolonged periods outdoors and not leave children or pets in cars unattended.
