Plant-Based 'VOWburger' Marks Stanton Grand Opening With $1 Burgers

Possibly an up-and-coming, vegan In-N-Out, the resturant will celebrate its first O.C. locale Saturday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

STANTON, CA — Los Angeles-based VOWburger, a purveyor of plant-based burgers, burritos and "chickn" sandwiches that garner high praise, is opening its first Orange County location in Stanton — and celebrating the event Saturday with $1 burgers.

The grand opening, plus burger deal, is April 16 from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Stanton's Rodeo 39 Public Market, 12885 Beach Blvd.

Along with the original VOWburger, single- and double-style, the restaurant offers vegan shakes, Nashville-style and spicy VOWchickn sandwiches, VOWegg sandwiches with vegan eggs, VOWbreakfast burritos with vegan cheese, avocado, beans and hash browns, chickn Caesar wraps and "animal-style" fries with carmelized onions, vegan cheese and housemade VOWsauce.

This is the second location for the brand, launched by its two founders in 2019 in the L.A.-Melrose area, with a stated mission to deliver eco-friendly food, while fighting food insecurity. For every meal purchased, the company donates one to food banks, with more than 40,000 meals donated to date, according to management.

The restaurant's vegan offerings are well reviewed by such critics as VegOut ("This hip and trendy vegan burger joint took on the challenge of making their own fried chicken from scratch—and they do a darn good job at it!") and Eater Los Angeles ("The plant-based shop ... turns out some of the more reliable non-meat burgers in town, and don’t forget to add on one of their fried ‘chicken’ sandwiches, too"), along with a 4.5-star rating on Yelp.
