Seal Beach Aquires New Oil Spill Response Trailer
The fully funded trailer will be a crucial asset for safeguarding Seal Beach's coastline, officials said.
SEAL BEACH, CA — The City of Seal Beach acquired a fully funded oil spill response trailer that will be used to safeguard the city's coastline in the event of an oil spill.
Following the October 2021 oil spill in Huntington Beach, Seal Beach officials worked with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s Office of Spill Prevention and Senator Janet Nguyen to secure the equipment to update the city's oil spill response plans.
The trailer was delivered to the city on Aug. 21 and Seal Beach Marine safety lifeguards were trained on how to use it.

"This training equips our lifeguards with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively deploy the equipment and respond swiftly in the event of an oil spill, ensuring that our community and environment are well-protected," the city said.
An official ribbon-cutting is expected to take place this month with Senator Nguyen to mark the introduction of the trailer to the community.
