Seal Beach was awarded part of an $11 million grant aimed at improving water quality throughout Orange County.

SEAL BEACH, CA — The City of Seal Beach was awarded part of an $11 million grant from the Orange County Transportation Authority to help improve water quality in the county.

On Oct. 14, the OCTA Board of Trustees approved $10.7 million for 15 projects throughout the county, including Seal Beach.

"Public Works is excited to announce that the City of Seal Beach is one of the eleven recipients to be awarded funding from the Orange County Transportation Authority," the city said in a statement.

These projects are funded through Measure M, which increased sales tax by a half-cent to support transportation improvements. The measure also included funding for an environmental cleanup program.

Funding is awarded on a competitive basis to cities and the county for projects that capture transportation-related pollution before it reaches the ocean and other waterways.
