OC City May Get New Costco
An Orange County city just entered into an agreement with a developer to pursue a Costco Wholesale.
ORANGE COUNTY, CA — Orange County may be getting a new Costco.
The City of Brea voted to enter into an agreement with a SoCal real estate developer to pursue a Costco Wholesale in exchange for a portion of the resulting sales tax revenue if the big box store breaks ground.
The agreement was approved this week, 3-1, with Councilmember Christine Marick opposed and Councilmember Blair Stewart absent.

According to the meeting minutes, Dwight Manley promises to purchase the 34-acre property at 200 and 250 S. Kraemer St. He would then be responsible for bringing in an developing a Costco on that site.
Manley has until Dec. 31 of next year to enter into a leasing agreement with Costco — which then would have to be approved by the city.

If successful, the agreement between the city and Manley would span 50 years with a percentage of the annual sales tax revenue collected by the city reimbursed to the property owner each year.
