Seal Beach Makes List of Top 15 Retirement Communities in America
Seal Beach's Leisure World, which boasts more than 9,000 retired residents, contributed to its inclusion in the list.
In a recent list released by RealtyTrac, a company that measures foreclosures and housing trends, Seal Beach, Calif. was named one of the Top 15 retirement communities in the United States.
The list includes communities in which more than 1/3 of a city's residents are of retirement age. Seal Beach's Leisure World, which boasts more than 9,000 retired residents in houses that are hundreds of thousands of dollars below average home prices for the city, contributed to its inclusion in the list.
According to RealtyTrac, Seal Beach's percentage of population of retirement age is 38.1 percent. Only one other California city – Rancho Mirage – is on the list. Six of the Top 15 communities are in Florida.
Seal Beach has the second highest median home sales price on the list, at $692,000, trailing only East Hamptons, New York, which is at $952,500.
